Canvases and canvas printing for photo to canvas and large format canvas printing
Since digital photography has taken off and each year becoming more affordable, everyone has become an amateur photographer. It has never been easier to take great photos with a digital camera. It allows you view the shots immediately and make any necessary adjustments to make the shot better. This has transformed photography forever. Now with more advanced printing methods, anyone can turn their photos into a work of art using large format canvas printing.
Canvases are printed using the giclee printing method. It was first created by print maker Jack Duganne; this marked a new wave of printing. The actual method of giclee printing involves professional 8 or 12 colour ink-jet printers which actually spray the ink onto the media. These printers are capable of producing the highest quality prints for both the fine art and photographic markets. There has been an explosion in canvas printing and because of its popularity more and more people are providing a photo to canvas service.
One reason for this is the actual effect the canvas has when it hangs on the wall. Because the canvas is stretched around a wooden box frame, it protrudes from the wall and stands out more than a conventional picture frame. There is also no glass used in framing canvas and so no reflection. There are different ways of wrapping the canvas round the frame; the most popular is the ‘gallery wrap’. This is where the image wraps around the stretcher bars creating a 3D effect. The other is having the image printed without it wrapping around the frame and usually colouring the wrap to complement the wall colour.
