Sunset and Sunrise Pictures and Photos
One the best times to take pictures is when the sun is rising and setting. To be more exact, just before sunrise and just after sunset. The light at these times can be amazing and turns skies into brilliant oranges and deep purples. Again with any sort of photography, mastering the light and using kit to your advantage will make the sunrise or sunset shot outstanding. Sunset photos are a favourite for anyone who owns a camera and are preferred by many due to that fact that you don’t need to set up before the sunrises!
Some people may think that you need to be in an exotic location for a great sunset photo, but this is not necessarily true. I have seen some of the most amazing sunset pictures right here in Devon. On slightly cloudier days sunset pictures can become even more impressive. As the sun becomes lower than the cloud the light can infuse the clouds with amazing colours and create a truly dramatic effect. Taking sunset pictures can also lend itself to silhouettes, because of the low light, features of the picture can become very dark. This can create a great image if executed correctly.
Taking sunrise photos requires slightly more commitment, this is because you need to be at your location and set up before the sun rises. With sunset pictures the light levels are constantly getting lower whereas with sunrise photos the light levels are increasing. So getting set up early is important otherwise you can lose the spectacular lighting effect. If it has been a particularly cold night then a mist can form over the land or water which can create a really dramatic and almost eerie effect. Again impressive silhouettes can be taken but these are usually better once the sun has risen slightly higher.
It is also important when preparing to take sunrise pictures that you know what the weather will be doing first thing in the morning. It’s really annoying to go to the effort of getting up super early and driving to your location only to find it’s clouded over and the sunrise is not visible. I have had this experience many a time whilst working with Extreme Boardshots as with the diversity of the coastline in Devon, different seaside villages can almost have their own microclimate. It can be cloudy and raining in Barnstaple but 15 miles away in Woolacombe it can be brilliant blue skies. Extreme Boardshots has a vast selection of sunset photos and sunrise pictures from misty dawns to brilliant golden sunsets. All of which can be printed on to canvas or high quality photographic paper to create a stunning centre piece on any wall.
